A bit late – but finally:
A little report about my stay in Linz during the NEXTcomic-festival in the middle of march this year.
I had an exhibition in a very nice showroom of the “Kapu”, an independent cultural space for concerts, parties, cinema , etc.
where I also stayed (in the backstage room) and where I met a lot of nice people (they also organize a soup kitchen (in german “Volksküche” so there where always people to hang around with!).
The “NEXTcomic” is not such a big but a very familiar and fun festival and luckily I met a bunch of comic artists, also some I already knew: Marijpol, Barbara Yelin, Anne Vagt (all 3 on the picture above) and Milla Bartscht from Germany ; Edda Strobl and Helmut Kaplan from the great collective TONTO-comics, Simon Häussle (check out their stuff, it’s absolutely awesome!) from Austria and Sorina Vazelina from Romania. They all were having exhibitions during the festival, too!
I also met the crew of “Franz the lonely Astrionaut”, it’s a comic/illustration-collective from Vienna self publishing a nice anthology!
Not to forget: the great Sebastian Broskwa from Pictopia (meet him in Erlangen this summer – he has like the best stand with the best selection of comic books!) and Christian Wellmann, the charming new organizer of the Festival!
So resuming, I had a great time with nice weather and atmosphere and a great party in “Rother Krebs”, a pub where Sorina, Simon and me did some DJing- it was a lot of fun!
